Was rebuilt from a former manor and offers 24 double and 2 single rooms, all with private facilities, TV and internet connection. In our hotel we have a large meeting hall in the Renaissance style, which can be used for holding seminars, congresses, but take for private celebrations. Since the hotel is situated directly opposite the castle, where wedding ceremonies are held, is very advantageous to make a wedding reception in our hotel. Let’s start our walk through Spálené Poříčí by revealing the symbolism of its name, which denotes history of this pictorial town in the area of Brdy mountain range. The original name
- Poříčí (Riverside) - elicited from it’s mere location by the river, was sadly enjoined in 1620 with the adjective Spálené (Burnt), as it was right then when a big part of the town was severely burnt down by the imperial army lead by general Bukvoj. Very unusual name mixing two elements, water and fire, is only one amongst many interesting things to be said of Spálené
Poříčí, which i.e. boasts the title of “The Historical Town of the Year 2003”.
Despite its ill fate throughout the past, the town center still features original composition and so all the attributes of
a historical town are to be seen here. Contrary to preserved original town center, the grounds of the formal agricultural cooperative have recently been changed beyond recognition.
The municipality had formal offices and a hay-barn rebuilt into a hotel, formal stables became a lounge with a restaurant and the brewery cellar was restored to its original shape.
Huge granary was remodeled and turned into Jiří Winter Neprakta’s (famous Czech cartoonist) Gallery in 2010, the other part of the building features the exhibition “A walkabout through the
Brdy mountains” introducing various crafts, historical lifestyle and a real charcoal pile. Even today a deep breath-in brings smell of golden corn spikes mixed with freshly dried hay.
The mansion from the beginning of the 17th century, later on extended by a neo-gothic tower, reveals to its visitors a concert hall with an original pan ceiling or the collection “Crafts and a rural life in the beginning of the last century”. The manor is surrounded by a smallish geo-park with a clacking water wheel. You can set out from there, following the nature trail “Hvížďalka”, towards the welcoming embrace of Brdy nature teeming with legends and tales. If you are lucky, you can spot not only a king-fisher bird, but also a rare rock lobster.
Another stop is by a nowadays mere stone drift allegedly leading to the mysterious Castle of Šroubek, once upon a time fortified keep of a local knight.
Spálené Poříčí has been a home for an Animal Rescue Station for a number of years - you are welcome to make an appointment and observe how wild mammals or birds are taken care of throughout the time from their admission up to the release to wilderness. Statues or reliefs depicting animals can be seen on many different places - for example go see Trykar’s house on the square (house number 47), which shows falcon and roes. There are countless romantic places and nooks with specific references to rich Czech history and natural wonders throughout the town.
Should you care to entwine both history and nature together, we highly recommend you to finnish your walk by tasty lunch in the restaurant of the Hotel Ve Dvoře, the restaurant being in the formal baroque stable with twisted columns.
